The annual Fall Leaf Clean-up was started as a service for our homeowners and as a way to keep as many leaves out of the storm drains as possible. When the leaves enter the storm drains, they can plug and then freeze during the winter months which can damage the drains.

There is such a small time frame between the leaves falling from the trees and the snow flying that completion of the leaf clean-up is contingent on the weather, and the crews that work the leaf collection are also the crews that plow the streets.
HOW SHOULD I PUT MY LEAVES AND YARD WASTE OUT FOR COLLECTION?

• Pile your leaves loose at the street edge.
• Avoid piling around or next to mail boxes, trees, and utility poles. Keep your leaf piles at least four feet away from any obstruction (when possible).
  • Be kind to your postal carrier - do not block mailboxes!!
  • Do not block catch basins, which may cause flooding during a rainstorm, or park on top of piles of leaves, which could cause a fire.
  • Please watch for children who may be playing in raked leaves!
  IS THIS COLLECTION JUST FOR LEAVES?
  No, we are also collecting yard and garden waste. Yard waste is grass clippings, leaves, plant debris and twigs less than 18" long. You can also place your pumpkins with your leaves for collection. Just add your pumpkins to your leaf pile and they will be composted.
  OTHER DISPOSAL OPTIONS
  In the event that leaves cannot be collected due to unexpected circumstances or if additional leaf fall occurs after collection is complete, the following disposal options are available:
  • Payette residents may dispose of leaves at the Payette County Landfill.
  • Leaves may be used as mulch in flower beds and/or around trees and shrubs.
  • Leaves may be home composted.
